The neoclassical library, with its approximately 100,000 volumes, provides a fitting setting and a unique atmosphere for this exploration.

Collected over five centuries, the library’s books cover a wide range of topics and offer insights into the history and significance of the princely family, as well as the personal interests of its individual members – from art, architecture, and science to economics and horse breeding.

During the lecture, we will present highlights from this treasure trove of knowledge and share the story of how the library found its way to the GARDEN PALACE.

The sumptuous Baroque rooms of the Liechtenstein GARDEN PALACE display artwork from the Early Renaissance to the High Baroque era originating from the private art collection of the Prince of Liechtenstein.

Besides paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt, Anthony Van Dyck and Raphael,
the collection also includes valuable prints and engravings as well as bronzes from the 16th and 17th centuries and pietra dura works along with furniture, porcelain and tapestries.

The Liechtenstein CITY PALACE is ranked as the earliest major example of High Baroque architecture in Vienna
with its famous Baroque stair-case, elaborately furnished state rooms with mirrored doors, huge golden chandeliers, opulent neo-Rococo interior and splendid parquet floors.
The presentation is further enriched by works of art from the Princely Collections from the eras of Biedermeier and Classicism – including masterpieces by artists such as Friedrich von Amerling, Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller and Friedrich Gauermann.
