GARDEN PALACE
SINS & VIRTUES
Pride, greed, lust, wrath, gluttony, envy, and sloth – the seven deadly sins reflect human weaknesses and vices, and have been recurring themes in Renaissance and Baroque art.
During this guided tour, we embark on a search for stories that explore these very themes. Sometimes subtly, sometimes more overtly, the artworks presented at the GARDEN PALACE depict Greek gods and humans alike being tempted. In contrast, other works celebrate virtuous saints and heroes, who serve as moral role models pointing the way to righteousness.
A fascinating interplay that shaped the art of its time.
